Bob Yousefian—What is he trying to say?

A new face has entered Armenian-American politics. His name is Bob. His mission is unclear. His message is obscure. Those who have seen him try to explain American politics in Armenian are amazed at the lack of development of his ideas.

As the community struggles to understand the differences between political parties, the meanings of different propositions they tune into Armenian language programs for help. If they have the unfortunate luck of running across Yousefian’s face on the television they are in for a real treat. Like Noah’s Arc, Yousefian brings up animal related analogies two by two to articulate completely inaccurate and at times absurd points. For those that do not watch Armenian television and have been oblivious to the disservice made by Yousefian to the community we want to welcome you to the world of Bob Yousefian—self-proclaimed expert in… everything.

TAS would like for everyone in our community who follows politics and has some idea of how the American system functions to read about Yousefian’s strangest and most amuzing moments. For those who have watched Bob on cable television, or have seen him in City Council meetings, consider this a re-run of your favorite sitcom. For all of the rest of you, welcome to Yousefian 101— political comical relief:

“Democrats try to take away people’s rights slowly, much like cooking a frog. If you put a frog in a pot of hot water it jumps out. But put the frog in a pot of cold water and slowly turn the heat up and you slowly and beautifully cook the frog. This is what government does”

“Politics is like a turkey. No person can eat the whole thing by himself. It needs to be split up. One person can eat the wing. One can have the leg. Another can eat the neck.”

“The Democrats are against singing Kum By Ya, because you have to say ‘my Lord’ in the song. They don’t want kids to worship God, because they want to be God.” “You can’t tell gays that homosexuality is wrong, because they are in the entertainment/art industry. If we do tell them, we will hurt their feelings, and they won’t produce any more art.”

“99% of people involved in the film and art industries are Democrats. There may be just a few Republicans, but God forbid someone finds out they are Republicans, they will never work in the industry again.”
